Cowgirl persona

True to the spirit of Carnival I played my cowgirl persona today and wore denim and plaids with my brown boots. Later today I will buy a cowgirl hat and escort my daughter to a costume theme party.

 The dress is linen and almost impossible not to wrinkle.





This is how I've worn it back in spring 2010 when I first bought it.

I just followed the simple line of it but now I need something more  complex.

To my surprise I always wear brown shoes with it.

Happy Carnival

 Taming 200 primary school kids today during Carnival celebrations was hard but rewarding. All teachers were exausted by mid-day but kids kept on. What do they have for breakfast?

 

After school was over I had a few errands to run but kept the carnival spirit on my outfit. 

 

The shirt is thrifted and pure silk and last time I wore it I was commented to look like a clown. Well not all people can appreciate a good pattern ha-ha! I tried not to take it personally, though.

The scarf is light cotton and can be used as a sarong during summer months.

Red but tight

Gaining a few extra pounds in winter was not a problem until I wore my red skirt this morning.I felt so restricted the whole day and as soon as I returned home it was ripped.

This red skirt was thrifted last May and shortened, the black basic sweater is from 5 winters ago but still going from an English retail brand marksandspencer and the crochet collar I made myself a few weeks ago

 The fake leather belt is from bershka

 I might try and have some kind of diet but for the moment I 'm eating a delicious piece of chocolate!

New glasses

Although I'm pretty easy to make changes clothes wise I always find it hard to change my hair or my glasses let alone both at once.

My frames are Arnette  model 7037 and it was love at first sight.They are light and made of excellent material and the design fits oval faces like mine. And much to my surprise young skaters and surfers love them,too.

The shoes make for a nice classic twist to denimland I decided to wear today.

Lace laundry

Happy spring everyone! The smell of spring and the fine weather is all around Greece the last few days. And it's a welcome change. I assumed this was the perfect opportunity to do my lace laundry. God! How sweet this sounds!

These two photos above are from a blanket my mum made for me more than 30 years ago! These crochet things last for a lifetime! No?

 This one is the last lace I made and I plan to add some fabric and make a nice tablecloth. As soon as this happens I will make a post. I hope it's really soon.

This one you've seen before but I coudn't resist and took a picture of it .This is to show you what a romantic soul I am!!!

Bolero and fillet crochet and some advise, excuse the nerve...

 Hello everybody! This is a long due post about a bolero I made back in December! It's very basic ,easy to make and I enjoy wearing it with almost everything I own. I already have an order to make a similar one for my sweet mum. 

For those of you who want to make one for yourself here is the link for a very helpful and explicit video.

Now I want your help with something. Should I make a few rows more so it becomes longer or leave it as it is? Help cause I'm in two minds.

Making clothes for me is not the only thing I was busy with lately. Between business, family, friends, politics and spiritual searching I was able to find the time to complete a romantic little something to beautify my kitchen and the big smile above is to show you how I felt when I accomplished my project. I trully felt so proud of myself and it's the first thing I see in the morning on my kitchen table.I cannot describe how happy i feel every morning. It just makes my day. I still have 3 more projects on the go and 2 more to finish off. 

It sounds like a lot of work but I really enjoy it.

I know you didn't ask for it but here is my advice:do yourself a favor and start crochet or knit projects. You will not regret it!!!

Have a great rest of the week everyone and enjoy your loved ones and stop drowling on what others have. Just enjoy what you have and the rest will come.

How to make a bag for a little girl

This is the granny square bag I made for the birthday of a little girl ,classmate of my daughter. If you want to make one just follow the simple instructions.

 First you make a couple of granny squares depending on the size you want the bag to be. I used 8 big ones.

 Join them together with a needle or hook . I used a needle.

 Fold in almost 1/3 of the length to get the aquired shape of a little basic bag and start stiching to secure in place.

Choose a couple of lovely buttons. I used the buttons of an old cardigan.

 Pick 3 more granny squares....

Fold in half and stich

Then place next to each other and stich to form a basic handle

 Ta - da a couples of hours later the little bag is ready to be gifted.

P.S I didn't have much time to line it but you can do it and to be honest it's the right thing to do.

Easy look

These are 3 of my basic equestrian looks this week . This is how I do it.
I will take inspiration from my board in Pinterest then I go back to my closet and create an outfit.
My outfits look a lot similar but it's not out of lack of creativity but because I 'm building a strong sense of style.
