A dress a day for a week challenge- Shift dress I made

Let's face it! Or better let me face it, I've got more clothes than I care to wear! I'm having the queen's wardrobe without shooting my family's economics dead (nor my husband who's not very happy with my spending ). And I'm so happy for not shooting either.

But what's the point of having so many clothes if I don't wear them all? O.K I could use a couple to decorate my bedroom walls but other than that I must wear all my clothes.

Before you say something like ...Oh! it took you so long to figure that out and disappear, I will explain myself because I'm sure I can make perfect sense.

I will make up little weekly challenges like a dress a day for a week to rotate my clothes and wear most of it. See, I haven't lost it yet!

Today, I start with the first challenge and I wear the dress I sew this winter in all its animal print details glory plus a skirt that happened to lie around. The accessories were all given to me by my mum .

Whose is the dress

My dress speaking to all spanish speaking ladies.
Do you recognise me? I'm thrifted and a dry cleaner's sticker is attached to me. It's in spanish. What might have happened to the lady who bought me? Do you know her? Have you seen me around?
These are the thoughts that kept me awake last night. No wonder it takes so long to adjust to reality in the morning! Seriously, what might have happened to my dress?
Who send it to the dry cleaner's only to forget about it?
Or who brought it home only to put it in the throw away pile?
Did the woman put on a lot of weight and didn't fit no more?
Did she win the lottery and had so much money to buy Chanel and the likes and couldn't bother with it any more?
Or the most horrible of all, the woman had no chance to wear it because she had a sudden death.
The questionnaire got bigger and bigger and I had no one to share my thoughts with.
Well, I tried with my husband in the morning. He called his mother to check if she could stay with our children in case things get worse. You get the picture!
So you are my only hope. What do you think might have happened? Do you ever wonder who previous owners were when you thrift? Did you have a similar experience? Am I hopeless in investigation?
Your bonus?
 Floating lemons!!!???

I can do series- Normal

I can do normal. This is not a ground breaking statement. It just means I'm able to wear employee/office stuff like a skirt, a shirt and a cardigan. It's a piece of cake isn't it?
On a second thought , upon looking at the photos who would choose an olive cardigan instead of a neutral colored one?
Who would go for a plaid shirt instead for a white or black, blue or grey?
And who would go for a camel skirt when there is a black/brown or dark blue option?
Well, maybe I fool myself and I can't do normal. That's why perfect strangers get surprised when I talk to them and say I'm very grounded and I speak like a normal person after all.

Now, I get where this after all comes from. Well, I can't do normal or can I? What do you think?!!

I can do series- Expensive

Continuing with my I can do series I will just say this.
Oh! how I marvel the joys of cheap (opposite to expensive) dressing. If I had to choose something expensive from big brands or spend the same amount of money on thrifting mismatched clothes I would do the second, no second thoughts not even for a second!
Not only because that would get me more stuff to stuff my closet but because that would get me unique stuff.
Sometimes it crosses my mind that I have this syndrome that I don't deserve expensive. That's when I drink a lot of wine and take anti depressants. Do I need to say I'm jocking? Well, that's when I think that a lot of the cheap stuff I buy were once expensive.
I only happen to have more patience and know how and where to shop than the average. Besides, I doubt those who decide that I should pay 80euro for a tshirt when they pay a few dollars a month poor workers God knows where to make it!
Plus I call my shopping treasure hunt and my findings treasures. I surely can do expensive! Can you?

I can do series- Simple

I bet you think I can't do simple. You saw me layering piece after piece of my thrift growing closet and thought can she ever wear anything simple? Well, I know you didn't bother to think that but ...just in  case... look I can do simple.

This unlike me urge was sparked by a very young woman I saw in the street the other day. I do follow young women around the city when I have free time and stalk them when they shop but this is not the topic right now(pathetic attempt at jocking, you got that right?).  She had a white button up, green pants and brown shoes on. It's the first time I totally copyrite something I saw in the street and a) I finally begun notice things around me or b) I've lost my sense of style and I don't know where this is going to lead me.

But anyway, a simple outfit deserves a simple text so I leave you till tomorrow.

Outfit details *shirt given by a friend *pants thrifted 2 years ago *shoes palatino *bag crocheted by me * various beads thrifted or local market.

500 th post

Today I'm writing my 500th post. I'm not sure if it's a big achievement or not because it took me since December 2009 to get here but I know it's been a great journey and still is, even more now as it gets better with time.
Well back to now! I accumulated so much stuff via thrifting and gifting this winter and there is no way to be able to wear them all. I mainly wear them on top of each other as you may have noticed not out of some stylistic revelation but to get some wear out of them and not feel like I totally spent my money or was ungrateful.
I'm still  remixing mainly but also add 1or2or3 new items before it gets too hot and layering is out of the question here in Greece!
So what you see here is my basic thin dress that is too tight to wear on its own but makes for a great background. On top is the- no one wanted to thrift this- fine see through tunic and for a good reason.
On top is this musturd cardi that has a sentimental value. My mum gave this to me and it was  custom made for her back in the 80s together with a dress that will also be mine soon. As a young girl I remember her wearing both and it brings sweet memories.
The quality of the wool and the care my mum gave it are the reasons it's in excellent condition.
Outfit details *custom made cardi* tunic thrifted *dress berska *bag Louis Vuitton original gifted*shoes Nina Rossi* gold bangle my mum's

You know how sometimes others can see  things we are good at but we haven't fully realised?
I'll give you an arm candy photo of my daughter and you in retrn for my 500 th post will tell me what you like about my blog , what you think I'm good  at , what you want more of this blog so I can get a more clear picture .
You would get the arm candy anyway! Thanks in advance !

A balance between old and new stuff in my closet

Ηow would you feel if someone had crocheted a sawl for you when you were a kid (around 10)but you still enjoy wearing it? Is it pathetic to still wear something you had as a child or does that make it special like a heirloom?
Athough, I like to get myself something new often (I'm a thrift queen) I like even more to remix what I already have. I find it very frustrating that some top bloggers wear new things in every post they buy in retail prices.
On the contrary, I find it very soothing to watch other bloggers repeat their clothes in different combinations and frequently add something new usually thrifted but not always.
Where do you stand on this? What attitude do you prefer or even better what's yours?
