Tell me why

dress marks&spencer    floral top zara       cobalt blue belt berska    shoes converse
I don't want to bother you with details but I feel like I don't get much respond from my fellow bloggers. There I said it. I have of course a small group of royal followers that we exgange comments on a regular basis. I even pride myself that I get thoughtful ,caring comments and not the kind of throwing a few words and move to the next blog ones.
But as I stroll around bloggosphere I come across posts with very little input and lots of comments and I have no idea why this happens.
I know I'm not as good in writing posts or taking pictures but I've seen others do worse and get so many more comments. How they do it?
I also know that hiding my face for so long was a kind of cheat because I was hiding something from you and didn't share.
But now I will be really brave and ask for your opinion. Don't be afraid and give me your critique. If I don't get it from you I don't know where else to look for  it . Please spill the beans and tell me why do you stop by but don't comment ? What do you think I should be doing in a different way? Hey! I'm an adult , I didn't reach 44 and learned nothing so please be straight.
I'd love to thank you in advance.
This week's Visible Monday post hosted by Patti is dedicated to all those readers of my blog who don't become visible. I'd love to hear from you ,if that's o.k!

  1. Love the converse shoes with this dress, such an unexpected combo! :)

Sometimes people just fly through blogs and don't have time to leave a comment - I wouldn't feel bad about it :)

It's your blog so you should do what makes you happy - no matter how many comments you get <3

One good tip I read on IFB is that if you want people to leave a comment, ask them a question at the end of the post - just like you did here :)

  2. Well, I only recently found your blog, and I am trying to get in the habit of commenting regularly. And thank you for visiting my blog - I think that helps, if you read and comment on others, they often (though not always) come to you too. But I think that should be meaningful, not just a case of collecting blogs which you don't really want to comment on.

I can't say why some blogs attract huge reams of comments and some don't. I have observed that some of my posts get more attention than others, and that's often the ones where I have taken more of a risk in what I'm wearing or writing about. But I can't do that all the time, obviously!
I have a relationship with many of my commenters, the comments I make on their blogs and they leave on mine form a conversation, but that emerged over time, I guess.
I don't have any advice really, I am only a newish blogger myself. But here are things I appreciate in others which you could consider; more and varied photos/format, a wider focus including what you do, where you go, food, family/social life, etc - that could be writing, not photos if you aren't comfortable with that. I want to know who you are! What you like, what you think, your interests. I'm nosy!

I think many of us have followers who never comment, that just seems to be a quirk of blogging. The main trick is to be generous with your time and input to others, I reckon, and like karma, it will come back to you! Keep going, you'll figure it out!
    Love Curtise xx

    1. I agree with Curtise about sharing more of your life. I know that sometimes concerns about privacy keep me from telling everything, but I have enjoyed your posts where you wrote about the situation in Greece. It is better to hear it from you than to read about it in the news.

    2. You both make a good point because part of the reason I read your blogs is that you take risks and really share.Maybe I'll be that brave.

  3. I've only just started following your blog - and I started following a lot of other 'over 40s' type blogs at the same time, so I've rather overwhelmed myself! I know I am guilty of reading, appreciating and then moving on, without commenting, which is a very bad habit.

I really enjoy your blog, and I think your photos are really good - I am rubbish at taking good photos of myself (or does someone take them for you?).

I agree with Curtise that it's like karma, too.

    xx

  4. I've only just started to follow your blog, and I started to follow lots of other '40 plus' style blogs at the same time, and have rather overwhelmed myself! I know that I am guilty of reading, appreciating and running, which is bad, and a habit I need to break.

Don't let it put you off though, like Curtise says, lots of people follow and never comment, but they read nonetheless. xx

  5. Love the red sneakers with that dress - so cute! And I think if you put yourself out there and comment on other blogs, then hopefully others will do the same :)

  6. I love the floral top under that dress. Aw, I wouldn't worry about it so much, you just have to keep posting what makes you happy. Like what others have said, there are people who read, but don't comment. :)

  7. Just be patient...more will come. It tooks months before I got one comment and then it took time to grow it to where it is today. Slow and steady pays off. You are doing a fabulous job and you look better and better every day. Hang in there!

  9. This is such a complicated question. I think people get blog burnout, not only from writing their own posts but also from reading and commenting on others! It gets hard to keep up with them all. I don't always comment on even my favorite blogs, but I hope the writers know I'm still "with" them. I often try to remind myself that comments are not the only evidence that people are reading and enjoying the blog. If new readers seem to keep finding you, I think that's a really good sign.

I will say this: I was just thinking to myself just the other day how much growth and improvement I see in your blog. I always liked it, but the photos and outfits seem increasingly vibrant. So you're absolutely not doing anything wrong!

    1. Thanks so much for the input.I always thought you had your own pace. Not write often but write something meaningful when you do.This brings a lot of comments, too.

  10. I like your blog too, very creative and a lovely sense of colour.

I think answering not all perhaps, but some of the comments or a summary "Thank you" to all those compliments on your outfits would motivate people, too. The older crowd may appreciate it not being a one-way conversation.

    So that's my two cents...

  11. I haven't commented, although I always read, because for some reason, I got the idea into my head that I needed to use Google+ or have a Blogger account to comment. I checked, and I see the Name/URL option, so I will definitely be commenting more frequently now!

  13. Hi! Thanks for stopping by & leaving some love! I really, really like your red Chuck Taylors! And I love that you paired them with this dress. Very cute!

This is my first time visiting your blog but let me tell you about my blogging experience: I know it can be frustrating to not receive comments, especially when you know people are reading (because of a stat counter or whatev). I only recently started consistently getting comments on every post. I started doing more outfit posts this year & that really upped my readership (I went from 8 readers to 32 since January 1). These days I will get anywhere from 5-15 comments on outfit posts & up to about 5 on other posts (pics of my family, etc.).

I think the key is to be true to yourself, first of all. If posts are authentic & genuinely "you," people will be drawn to that if they're interested in similar things to you. Also key, don't take it personally if people don't comment. Sometimes I like to admire from afar, but other days I want to tell others how awesome they are. It's nothing personal to them; just how I'm feeling that day.

I think probably the best way to get traffic to your blog is to leave comments on other blogs & be consistent. I suppose you could also do sponsors & whatnot but I guess you just have to decide how serious you are about blogging.

    Just my (long) two cents!

  14. Hi Angie!
I'm here! I love your converse!!!!!
For me, sometimes I just don't have the time to visit and comment on all the blogs I love...but I do try to make it up when I can. You're doing a fantastic job with your creative outfits and photos!

  15. Please don't get down on yourself or your blog because you are sizing yourself against other bloggers. That's the worse thing we can do...I'm guilty of it to. I've just started following your blog, and I love your style. Although I look everyday, I don't always comment. Just know, you do have someone out there :-)

  16. This is such a tricky subject. I know there are many bloggers out there who comment regularly on a lot of blogs in a day...and so many people have said the most important thing a blogger can do is comment on other blogs if they want to expand their readership.
I've seen blogs with 1000 followers have 16comments on a post, and different blogs with 1000 followers have 100 comments on a post...so it almost goes to show that the biggest reason that the one blog has so many readers is because the blogger spends so much time commenting on other blogs, but the one with less comments has readers that genuinely like the blog...and are there to read the blog rather than kiss some bodys behind for more traffic to their site.
I honestly don't have time to comment on all the blogs that I love...but I'm sure if I did that it would reflect more (increase) the amount of comments I receive on a daily basis. I try my best to check out the blogs that have commented on my blog, and then return the favour (usually a few days later because I'm slow..haha) by commenting on their blog. I know how much all my blog comments mean to me, so I love being able to hopefully help brighten someone elses day by commenting...but the truth is I find it more important that I hang out with my daughter and hubby instead of spending so much time commenting on blogs.
As long as people keep coming back to your blog it shows you that you're doing something right. But I totally know how bummed out I get when I receive a low(er than usual) amount of comments on a post.
Now on to your outfit...adorable! I love how you layered the blouse under your dress...and with the sneakers...so cute!

  17. I'm totally clueless about what people do.
I'm a News as well as a Fashion junkie so I'm always interested to hear what you have to say about the political situation in Greece and how it's impacting normal people like yourself.

Personally, if a blog has a lot of comments I often don't leave a comment because I don't think anybody is going to care.

  19. I think your blog is so fun! You recently posted a comment on my blog, and that's what made me come over here and comment. Maybe that's the secret? I don't know, I don't have a huge following, but it is an interesting thought. I appreciated your post and all of the comments about it.

  20. I'm beggining to think that commenting a lot might be the key to the puzzle. Thanks for your input.

  21. Thanks for stopping by my blog. What I have notice with my blog is. Who every leaves me a comment I make sure I stop by there blog and say hi or something. Then they keep coming back and I keep going back to there blog. I have just start to get 10 or more comments on my post. Which I have been blogging for almost 2 years now. When I first started my blog I had 0 comments but that didn't stop me for posting.

Good Luck. Everyone advice is going one. You just have to find out what works for you.

  22. Hi Angie.. Thanks for dropping by my blog.. Though you deleted your comment, but that's ok :)
India, of course has changed "A L O T" in past 20 years! And it is still developing a lot! You must visit us once again :)
On your post - I am a new blogger, just started blogging in March this year. Even my first few posts received less attention and comments, but I keep checking the stats of my blog daily ( like how many hits were there on my blog, which websites are huge source of hits on my blog etc.) Definitely, it feels great to read good comments as well, but you should not get disheartened just because of that. Few tips which I can share with you –
    1. Visit other famous bloggers, drop a genuine comment (not one word or a one liner), and leave the link of your blog below your comment.
    2. Join blogging hubs – like Bloglovin etc. to get more hits.
    3. And good pictures are very very important! A good pose, good camera and good location – they all comprise up to make a reader keep coming back on your page.
    4. Post pictures or OOTD posts should be related to the latest trends!
    5. It’s good to have some fun in your posts. Make fun of your own self. Readers love reading funny posts (but don’t go overboard).
I hope this helps you! And thanks again for visiting my blog! Hope to see you soon again :) Love xoxo
